I usually don't do these predictions. Feelings get hurt, people's opinions get attacked, and I hope none of this weighs in on any judging for the ones who decide the fate of these matches. Not sure the judging has been completed for this bracket. So anyway...here we go. And for the record, I am not an expert and this is simply my opinion.
Freddie Sagawa vs. Shawn Jessica Hart - Both handlers really brought it with their respective styles. I think this one is a tough call. On one hand, the mouthpiece of Sagawa has a great gift of gab. He hit on all points of criteria that some of the judges look for. On the other hand, I feel Hart did a great job with his character. While some people may not be a fan of the youtube videos and pictures, I think the pics really gave a great visual and added to the RP. Both guys did a great job. Hard to call, but I enjoyed Hart's 2nd post the most. I give Hart the edge. Glad I am not a judge.
Troy Windham vs. Kevin Watson - These two had a great RP battle. I am a huge Troy Windham fan and even picked him to win the tournament. With that said, I hate to say this, but I think Watson may have won the battle. My reasoning was the desire of wanting to win came through more from the character than it did from Windham. On the other hand, I think Windham's pieces were more entertaining. Tough call, but I give a slight edge to Watson.
Jeffrey Roberts vs. Ken Cloverleaf - I liked that these two had some history with one another. I guess as the tournament goes on we will see more battles like this that have a backstory. Both of the handlers are great writers
and who knows how this would go with 3 RPs a piece. A lot of tough calls in this bracket, but I will give the nod to Roberts in this one.
Jack Harmen vs. John McDonough - I personally do not have an familiarity with these characters. Both of them come across as established stars and they had a good exchange of RPs. Another close one for me to predict. So with nothing more than being biased because of my Challonge picks, I will go with Harmen.
Bonecrusher vs. Deacon - With all the controversy last round of using someone's character without permission, I was shocked to see Bonecrusher used in this one! Just kidding! Deacon wins. I will say that the use of a gag on Bonecrusher in the dream shows a strange S & M side to Deacon that I do not think has been explored before. Who would've known?
Henry Dylan vs. Shamon - I am not going to pick this one because I am involved. I give props and respect to the handler of Dylan for being a great RPer. I am not sure Dylan is psychic...but maybe that is an angle you can explore after this match.
I wish you would have had time to RP sooner so you wouldn't have to do the back-to-back notes. Not to discredit the psychic ability that Dylan now has, but it may have been nudged by the note that Powers posted in the Hype RP section where he used Shamon. "HEE! HEE!" I'm just sayin'! But kidding aside, I would like to work with Dylan or his handler sometime in the future. I urge you to stick around this site after the tournament.
Alexander Hayes vs. Vincenzo Savonarola - I give this one to Vincenzo on the basis that he had a no-show. I hate that, but sometimes life gets in the way of this hobby. So if that is the case, I completely understand. It just sucks.
Pat Gordon, Jr. vs. August Joyce - I'm running out of steam for my comments and this is the last one, so good timing. Tough to call. I don't know who to pick here. Gonna go out on a limb and say Gordon. Only because I think I heard the name before this tournament.
And because he messed up my Challonge predictions by beating Suicide in the round before. Sorry that I do not have much to add.
So that concludes my post. I would like to see some others give their thoughts, opinions, and predictions on this. We are sort of in a "down time" moment for the tournament. I hope this will generate more conversation. Thanks and good luck to everyone involved.
