Any (legit!) questions that you'd like to have the judges answer about the tournament? We're working on nailing down a date this week or next for our judges' podcast and can get them answered as part of that.

What style are RPs are you going to be holding in higher regards? Script, novel, trash talk, character development? I mean everyone say that are going to be impartial about judging, but honestly you're going to end up swaying one way or the other on this matter. It's kind of hard not to, I would admit I probably would.

Let's save them for the podcast. Gotta have something to talk about. :). Then we can add more here, especially from any judges who can't join the cast.

While waiting for Chad to decide if he wants us to maintain radio silence in between now and the scheduled(?) podcast so I'm going to answer that one question here.

For me, I don't care if it's script style, narrative, trash talking, character building, or a combination of all of them. I look for the following:

1: Well - written. No typos or grammatical errors, if I have to read your RP more than twice to understand what you're saying, you're probably doing it wrong (unless you're Erik Mateo).

2: Consistency. Don't completely switch up your characters' inner monologue and approach to fit your opponent if the logical leap can't be made. As an example, I was in a tournament years ago where one wrestler was doing well as a completely comedic superficial heel that was pretty entertaining to read. When we faced off he immediately - and without any indication that the character had that side - switched to a more reserved, more introspective style that gave me literally nothing to work with - and after he beat me he went right back to being the heel. Don't do that.

3: Reality. Your character is on television. If he murders, rapes, or otherwise assaults someone, the police are going to find him and arrest him for being a cliche'd badass. I will probably not vote in your favor* unless you are a godlike writer.

4: WRESTLING. This is the biggest thing of all. I don't care what you do or how you do in this regard, but if I'm judging your match* I'd better be able to tell that you're writing a wrestler that is involved in a wrestling tournament.

*I believe you will know your judges in advance.

You can write them in hieroglyphics for all I care, as long as it's good, I'll judge it accordingly.

I need to learn how to download podcasts and **** onto my Galaxy 5.0 Player.

It's like a mini-tablet.

Seriously, if anybody knows anything about how to work this thing, I could use a tutorial...

Thanks both for your answers... :) Also, when is this podcast supposed to happen? lol

We're trying to finalize the day and time. Likely either this Thursday post-EFG's podcast or early next week. I'll post a link if folks want to listen live, but the real intent is to do a short roundtable podcast with as many judges as we can get at one time. If it goes well we'll consider doing more or potentially doing a podcast to reveal the pairings.

Talking about your opponent and your match does wonders for me, especially in a tournament.

Can I do 40,000 words about my character's niece, who is a lesbian vampire that owns a nightclub in the heart of the big city?

I've actually been on a no-carb diet for 9 months.

As far as judging...

I know where Jesse was coming from.
I know where Stalker is coming from.

I will say to both those comments -- I hope nobody limits themselves to judging 'rules' when involving this many people from different ewrasslin' backgrounds.

Personally, when I ran the Ultratitle Seasons that encompassed a similar round-up, it wasn't about writing style or writing content. It was always the entertainment value and if it sold the importance of what was going on at the time.

I only ask, because I don't write like the majority of the people here and honestly, I've never really written like the majority of the people that were in the PTC circle either. I try to keep my roleplays around the 1K word limit, and they are majorly driven toward giving some kind of history behind the character.

Like my character at the moment in ACW, he was shot and left for dead the last time anyone had seen or heard from him. So, my current RP series there is telling the story of what happened to him after it all went down and lead to his eventual return. I don't know if something like that would fly here or not, because I was honestly thinking of holding off the story and continuing it here for the tournament. The only problem is, it would not involve anything to do with the tournament and nothing to do with my opponents at all, probably not even wrestling really. So gauging from the responses from judges, it would be a waste here and most likely cause me to lose matches than advance in them. ;)

I'll just do something else. :D
