This topic has derailed from the Rd. 2 discussion into a Rd. 2 discussion discussion.

Any predictions?

And, as a point of order.....I wanted to make sure it was known by all...

Ernie gave me permission to refer to Pat Gordon in the RP I wrote for my Rd 2 match.

I know that the char didn't "appear" in the RP, but I wanted to make sure I was above board.

I can confirm that. Although I also want to be clear that I never called Jeff a sponge. I just approved what Hopper wrote that involved Pat Gordon (Sr.) Jeff always has been aces in my book and continues to be!

I also approved the Max Hopper cameo in the Shawn or Felicia Hart promo, whichever it was, in round 1.

Well it should go without saying that you wouldn't have said anything OOC about the handler. I mean duh!

Brunk...

The idea of continuation knowing it isn't counted is cool. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing an opportunity.

I don't mean any spite or to offend by sayig this, because I thought we both put in possibly the best RP in the bracket-- yes biased :p -- but there's a post from Chad pinned to the top of the Hype subforum stating none of that RP will count torwards match judging. Tact did mention Hopper but the main point was to clarify a point mentioned in an RP I posted. I won't mention it here in case judges read this.

Basically, I know what the rules are and had no intentions of that counting towards judging. I would have posted an OORP note but I doubted the judges are checking that forum except after any immediate judging is done, anyway.

Understand totally.....and I just want to make sure you didn't think that I was accusing you of foul play or anything....

I just didn't know the hype coard was even worth working on once the tourney really started and didn't want to miss an opportunity to keep the heat rolling if it was something that did count as tie breaker or etc.

I enjoyed working against you....and I agree...I think we gave them one of the best match ups of the bracket!

Good luck man....would love to work with you again down the line no matter what.

What I said was that in an impossible to pick evenly matched RP battle, RPs posted in the hype forum that give me better insight into the character would probably sway me one way or another. When I actually judge, I focus on the RPs in the thread and those alone.

Cool, no worries... and same here, I had fun and hope people enjoy reading what we came up with. You never know what the future holds!

And now, it's time to READ ALL THE RP'S!

OK...ACTUAL PREDICTIONS....

Hopper VS Tact
My Match. Its close and I like to think I pulled it out in the end....but honestly who knows. Tact is very good and it makes me want to consider EPW for both reading and possible participation when tourney has concluded.

Whealdon VS Murray
This match was a little disappointing to me. Both guys coming off big wins in the first round and it seemed like they missed a little here. Whealdon ran his course and was solid....but he didn't jump of fthe page like I felt he did last RD. That could be because I am more used to him after his last effort too....so who knows. Murray REALLY disappointed me. There is a point in his second RP where he starts discussing a 2000 word essay and says the phrase "this isn't real." seemed 4th wall breaking even if not intended to be....plus I kept feeling it was generic with the whole "generation bored" talk.....like it has been done, said and used before by others and etc. I'm giving the edge to Whealdon

Spooky Doom VS Mike C
I will hand it to Mike C, as he upped his game from Rd 1. I felt like it was a good challenge, but Spooky has strengthened his game as well. In Rd 1, Colde took a risk with how he wrote and it was different for Spooks...but it was a risk he could afford in a jobber match. Here he returned to regular form. I didn't enjoy the "meta" references in the second RP, to be honest as it was not as veiled as maybe it should have been for Kayfabe....but overall, this was his match to lose anyway. Spooky advances in a match that was closer than I thought it would have been...but still not a squeaker.

Orphan VS De Ocho
This might be the second-most lopsided match in the bracket. No slack to De Ocho who wrote some fun stuff, but Sean really stayed the course and was above and beyond. And that sucks because if he gets rolling, we're all in trouble. LOL I would give this one 7-3 in solid favor of Orphan.

Whiskey VS Keller
I'm sad Ben didn't se my AA idea for a RP....but it didn't matter. Keller's schtick is solid and the second RP was fun to read because I know the character well from ACW. Whiskey didn't seem comparable in many ways and that second RP from Keller kind of sealed this one up. Keller advances in a good match.

Strife VS Brown
Brown no shows against Strife. Castor hasn't been challenged yet in any form. That makes me a sad panda.

Sargeant VS Allen
This is a case of where Sargeant had a really good opening salvo and then posted second as well.....seemingly taking his foot off the gas. IN 90% of matches that will cost you, but here Allen didn't make him pay for it. You get a gift of your opponent using both of his RPs before you post one and get 2 straight shots to pound him down....but can't seem to take advantage of it? Wow. This match was much closer than it might have seemed after the first RP by Sarge....but Sarge still takes it...I'll say 6.5 - 3.6. lol

Silver VS Anarky
Same thing happened in this match, except not consecutive postings for the guys. Silver's first RP was really good and perhaps the best of the entire thread....but his second one (3rd in the thread) took his foot off the gas and gave an openign to Anarky....and he took advantage. Anarky's second one was better than his first and both of Anarky's were better than Doc's second one. That means the match tightened up a TON right at the end. This one turned into a coin flip of sorts, but I still give Doc the edge in a tight race.

in a perfect world.....here would be my round 3 match ups based of fmy picks...

Hopper VS Whealdon
Orphan VS Spooky Doom
Keller VS Strife
Sargeant VS Doc SIlver

It was a good round guys.....7 of 8 matches went full RP limit. That is quality stuff!

Hopper VS Tact
A pretty close match, but I am becoming a Larry Tact fan. Tact over Hopper.

Whealdon VS Murray
I think "Suite" Pete Whealdon would be one of the best characters in the entire tournament if the character was toned down just a bit...right now he's at about an 11, and I would personally prefer him at about an 8. It would be awesome if the message was a little more nuanced than outright saying "I want to gang-rape you". Murray was pretty solid, but a lot of the notes he hit felt repetitive, and I wanted more "new". Whealdon in a close one.

Spooky Doom VS Mike C
This match went to a weird place...I'm not sure how much I liked the 4th-wall breaking. At a certain point it felt like handler vs. handler to me, rather than wrestler vs. wrestler. The deciding factor for me is a personal pet peeve; please start using the proper "it's" vs "its". It is a problem when in one sentence, "it's" is used 5 or 6 times when you mean to use "its". Spooky over Mike C.

Orphan VS Ocho
Win or lose, I was really happy with how this whole match went. I thought Orphan and I took the storyline to a really compelling and entertaining place. I would have loved for this to become an extended program. I personally think my promos were much better than in my round 1 match against LeBlanc, but I can't deny that Orphan's second promo was one of the best in the entire tournament. Hoping to pull off the upset, but I will have no beef if Orphan gets the win. He was awesome.

Whisky VS Keller
This was a pretty good match overall. Some of the smack talk was "eh", but other moments were very strong. I'm personally rooting for Eddie Whisky, I like the character a little better. This will be one of the closer calls.

Strife VS Brown
Way to go, Sammy Brown. Ruining Bracket 2's perfect max-RP round. Hoping that Strife's third round matchup is SOMETHING.

Sargeant VS Allen
Weird flow to this match, but I thought Sargeant was better overall. Sarge over Allen.

Silver VS Anarky
This was a very close race between two good writers, but I give the edge to the best promo in the thread and also the guy who went first. Doc over Anarky.

I don't normally do this. But everything implied about my character in Murray's roleplays is complete bs. We never worked out anything beforehand, which ironically I'm completely in to. The Gang-bang line is verbatim from something he made up that my character said to his valet in the first rp.

/shrug

One of those things were it was so stupid, I couldn't let it slide. Though in principle I totally agree.

I was definitely curious about that stuff too...it kind of goes along with that one first round match (I'm forgetting who was in it off the top of my head), where the guy who lost was using his opponent in their RPs without their opponent's permission.

The creepy baby oil-mesh shirt-Pappy Van Winkle-"Daddy", I dig. It was the more blatant spoken stuff that I thought should've been more toned down, that's all.

Totally agree 100%, I let a little bit too much heat I was feeling for the handler seep in.

Unfortunately, my opponents tremble in such fear of Castor Strife that they avoid even clicking on the forum itself. Right now, there are really good odds that I win this thing on 7 consecutive no-shows. In fact, I'm calling it.
