I figured the title is fitting since its the first time I'm even going to say the word playoffs.
...
Playoffs.
Wow, I've avoided that word publically out of superstition but at this point it's becoming a reality.
We've got Weeks 12-16 coming up, the standings are still very close in some respects and that's what this note I hope will help you with.
Its basically 4 weeks and a battle royal week. This will be your time to 'plead your character's case' on where they should be in the playoffs, if they should make it, what type of momentum, etc. This means that now's the time to make your move if you've been waiting to do so. Now's the time to set up your big blowoff storyline that will culminate during the playoffs...at what I think we'll be calling "Wrestlebowl I".
I've been devising a system for the Week 16 Random Rumbles that will affect EVERYONE that week. Think 3 points for a standard elimination, 5 for a pin elimination, 7 for a tapout elimination. Oh yes, and possibly more than 25 points for winning the darn thing. That means nothing will be set that final week. Also the points I just noted aren't etched in stone or anything, I welcome comments as well. I like this idea because I don't want the divisions to be 'clinched' until the final week. I know, I'm a berry, berry bad man.
All the division races are close and if I have my way (which I normally do ), the people that win their divisions will be those that 'earn' the bye. Take that for what it means, but most likely your division winners will speak to the RPers consistency for the whole season. I believe this is fair since the front runners right now have been RPing their asses off since last fall. And yes, the Random Rumble RP quota will be raised.
This was a more difficult concept than I originally thought. Keeping something like this held together for 16 weeks. Anyone in the division title race, I thank you now for being the glue of what's held the league together.
As far as the wild card spots are concerned, if you're sitting with 35-55 points don't think that someone at 20 points can't catch you. Its quite possible that the sixth seed in each conference could be a surprise seeing as how these next 5 weeks are very important to the league.
I can't thank you all enough for making this happen. Its been a difficult road, but if you look at the standings and look at the next 5 weeks...this was the point. To build up to the homestretch and put on a playoffs that had alot of 'weight' behind it.
So basically, everything is right on track and honestly, if anyone should be applauded its you guys. The concept wasn't going to work if nobody stayed committed to seeing it through and right now we've got an exciting playoff race.
