I haven't chimed in so thought I'd add a few cents to some of the topics.
Non-finish Main Event: Yeah, that sucked pretty hard. It sits both up as evenly matched, which from a purely "Competititive writing" perspective (whatever that is), they were great. Both worked well together and I can see the desire of keeping the heat on both and not "costing" one for the other. Except... 2 in a row on a major show is a bit much. You could've ran a few smaller shows, each building to the next, but we don't have a place to go w/ it. Of course, that's normally when we have to go back to the drawing board.
Impulse and the chair: What I will say is that I really thought Impulse was going to do it. Though my work w/ Pete w/ this particular character is limited, I always knew the 'rules' of impulse. And yes, it would make him polarizing, in the same way that Deacon, if played straight, is polarizing. In my view, Deac's only gotten over for the unique entrances and such. As with Deacon, Impulse is a difficult character to balance, and yes, the fans reaction could waver. But he never should. Ever. Tease us, draw us in, but hold the line because that's what defines him. To do anything else would make him just like everyone else.
Ending: I didn't mark for Mike Randalls, but I've not really figured much out for him recently. And Katz, you KNOW he's my fav of your creations! He just needs to do something or not.
Dane: This was a lot of fun. The way he went over, w/ the spike, was a bit unbelievable, but in that "GUNNS KNEE!" sorta way. To me, it was taking that older story and pumping it up a few thousand notches. I bought the contract signing, and though I sorta expected Dane to go over, I wasn't sure how he would, putting him almost in a face role where I'm sorta rooting for him, but not at the same time. That was great! Now, w/ all that said, I do think it's a bit early for him to be challenging for the World belt. Don't get me wrong, he's been fun to read and such, but him vying for the belt (in what I must assume is a serious storyline building toward a confrontation and not just a short blow-off), is a bit early. It's the fact he'll be the main opponent that is problematic because he doesn't have the build-up, aside from what Justin has written for him. We don't know him and therefore see him as a mouthy jerk who has been given the "golden ticket" and rushed into our faces. In the same way that the fans will react negatively to Impulse not showing "any balls", they're going to hate... HATE seeing this guy in the title picture as the main opponent. And they won't HATE him as a heel. They'll hate him like X-Pac, legit, don't wanna see him regardless of what he does or says (for those in the fWo, think the Xias character - I think that's who I remember being irritating to see so much). I could see Dane with a match, or maybe a few matches, where his job is to build Castor up, but even that isn't necessary right now. Castor's in a good place. This one will be touchy, not impossible, but difficult to balance.
