You can't alienate others if we can't see who you are! :)

Also, for everyone, I expect to lose. I took a risk on the second post that in hindsight, you just don't take in a tournament situation. I'll take the loss like a man. No worries. Good on Cobra for taking advantage.

I'll just write for Jeffrey Roberts now. ;)

You guys rule for making picks and telling your thoughts (which you can't do on Challonge, Chad!).

I'm gonna get the other brackets up soon!

Dom is actually the anti-meathead, muscle bound wrestler. Plus, he doesn't have a woman, his rival in ICW actually stole her. lol I'll be the first to admit, these were not my best RP's. I am more in line with a storyline writer than a "promo" writer.

I picked Dom Jacobs to win that thread. You clearly have talent and all that, but there's one reason why I would pick almost anyone else over Dom...

HE IS CM PUNK. No, his gimmick isn't just influenced by Punk, he IS Punk. You took everything from Punk's gimmick and simply changed his first name. That's not original, my friend. Certainly all our characters are influenced by somebody we saw on TV, but you straight up ripped Punk. I wish you luck in the tourney, I have you winning the first round, but I'd like to see you come back with a new, original character.

I'll talk about the ones that stood out for me right off the top of my head.

'Jester' Chad Allen vs Tarrasque - I can't say that I am a fan of either TYPE of character in this one but Tarrasque's RPs were a bit over the top for my taste. I'm not a fan of treating e-fedding like a horror movie or a way out there sci fi show. In my opinion, e-fedding is about the character and his/her direct interaction with his/her opponent. I have Jester going over.

Justin Voss vs Mark Maverick - I loved Mark Maverick's hype promo before the tournament started. Like, dinner and a movie loved it. It was how I felt I should have played The Sergeant from the start. Once the competitive RPs started though, I thought Voss' stuff was more to the point and well-written. Maverick's didn't look like he was trying as hard as he could... I might have read that the handler has another pony in the show, so that might be the reason. Voss wins, IMO.

'Arrogance' Joey Melton vs Ethan Archer (j) - It's really a toss up on this one. Flip of a coin. :)

Kin Hiroshi vs 'The Dream' Marcus Davis - I remember Hiroshi destroying Sarge in an old EPW Agression match. His RPs in the tourney remind me why. Marcus brought it, tooo, but I go with Hiroshi.

Zero vs Blaine Hollywood - I liked Blaine Hollywood's stuff and have him winning. An earlier poster said Blaine's stuff was textbook and I agree, although I don't think he's written the best stuff thus far out of all characters.

Dom Jacobs vs El Gordo Grande - LOL I loved El Gordo Grande's character and approach. He was memorable to me and gets my nod... especially when he thought he only had one match and thus didn't need to be in great shape.

Cobra vs 'The Egobuster' Dan Ryan - I've read about people saying "upset" but in my opinion, for as nice as the second RP was, the first Cobra RP was not very good at all. Very difficult to read or connect with the character at all. Dan Ryan wins... but i think it's one of those matches that will give Ryan the fuel to push all the way through the tourney.

Umpiro vs Troy Douglas - I enjoyed the concept of Umpiro and hope to see the character fleshed out down the road. It was a wuick throwaway for the tourney, but I thought he was interesting (and well written) enough to bring back or even be a special feature on Holzerman's blog down the road :) Troy Douglas wins.

'Gentlemen' Jonathan Marx vs King Krusher - This match is another one where Marx's first RP blew Krusher's out of the water but their second ones were pretty even. This gives the nod to Marx in my opinion. Krusher vs Umpiro in a special attraction match later in the tourney. LOL

Well honestly my earlier work was too similar, I'll give you that. However, the character has evolved through my work with ICW. Dom is influenced ny Punk no doubt, he has morphed some characteristics of hbk and Jericho. I was honestly at a loss for what to write here, ran out of time, and adapted some of earlier stuff. So I urge you to check out FedWars, promotion DWE and check out some of my work before you basically call me a thief.

I can't believe you people argued in character about the WWE's product.

I'd job the both of you for that.

The correct answer would have been "CM who?"

Translating back and forth is not only a pain in the ass but takes forever. The concept of the double language is not to pad but because El Gordo can't speak English. This is why its presented in SAP, Second Audio Programming. However, what you are reading in English is not audible, it's subtitled on the screen. Could I have an English speaking manager do all the talking, yes. Could I make El Gordo speak broken English, yes. But that's not in the scheme of who I have him played out in my head. :)

I found Gordo's promos incredibly entertaining and original, even with both languages presented. Don't go changin'...

And, most importantly to me, both characters addressed the fictional audience which watches all of these matches. There IS a fake audience that reacts to these fake characters Seriously -- if I was going to show someone how to RP in this style, this is what I would show them.

The writer of Blaine did a good job, and is also a nice guy. So I'm not referring to him with this response.

But I'll have to disagree with your definitive statement here. There is not necessarily a fake audience here in a promo stage. Even at the onset of assuming such, it goes against a few steps of logic. First, during these roleplays where a character is speaking at a lens to someone else, how are these people supposedly seeing this? Is it airing on television? If so, then when? The event hasn't happened, is this a commercial airing inbetween a rerun of a sitcom? How often do you see that? The only time you see televised promos is during the actual event (or in the case of a website followup, immediately after an event), and the timing of all of the writing here predates that. An audience does watch all of the matches, yes, because they are happening in an event. But promos in this conventional roleplaying context leading up to the event, in many ways, feel like a bit of an illogical leap. So it seems perfectly fine and logical that some stories could be told with no regard to an imaginary audience, because they actually aren't there anyway.

Imagine them as a series of produced podcasts directed at the audience.

For reference, Chikara does a very nice one.

More important everything is aired on ESEN. So, everything we view is being aired on a national network dedicated to not only the ultratitle but some of the larger leagues. That's how I see it, that leagues on FWC are all aired on ESEN.

I like that it will be the judges fault if Tarrasque loses, and not the handler, when we made it painfully clear that the judges were looking for realism and for characters to not do illegal things, and Tarrasque broke a man's neck in his first Rp and had his trainer assure us that the broke necked man would either die or never walk again, and then in his second Rp he threw a man in front of a speeding bus, which I'm pretty sure would be fatal.

But yeah, the judges are just not open minded enough to enjoy Tarrasque.

I didn't say it was the judge's fault. It was written fairly well, it just escaped the bounds of sanity. If he had reigned it in and not gone bonkers-mode, he'd have written two fine promos. The manager was delightfully despicable, and the character himself endearing in his simplicity.

He just happened to, you know, murder some dudes. It happens, amirite?

YouTube. It's the 21st Century.

IMO, extra online content as a concept makes e-fedding so much more believable. I mean, how else could fans watch a back-and-forth 2-4 promo war between the participants of every match on the card in a 2-hour show? Just say "lol, it's all on the website" and you're golden.

And why are we even answering this? Why is the onus on us to explain when our promos are happening? When are your promos happening? You know, the ones that nobody can see? Do you mean to tell me Zero is in character 24/7? Is he a method actor? Is he Daniel Day-Lewis? ANSWER ME!

I'm excited for round 2. I wasn't going to waste good material on a jobber character *hard stare at Chad* but I can't wait to see who I'm up against with Umpiro and Troy Douglas. I feel like win or lose one of those two guys are going to really put me back into writing shape.

Hey, I know! Let's all argue-slash-discuss narrative vs. script format again!

I'm pretty sure we're really gonna nail down a definitive answer this time. :)

And then we can solve that ol' gem: RP vs. Angle...after that we can get the Democrats and Republicans to unite, find an alternate source of energy that everyone can agree on, end world hunger, find a solution for world peace, and finally cure every known disease to man...I have a good feeling about this lol :)
